Back up and restore
Export your settings, mappings, throwing scene and themes to a file, and read them back on another machine.
A backup is a single file holding everything you have configured. Use it before you reinstall, before you try a different throw style, and when you move to a new computer.
Find it under SettingsPreferences and data, on the Data Management card.
Export
Click Export backup and choose where to save the file.
It contains your settings, event mappings, the throwing scene with its body parts and gift mappings, your themes, and your stats and points balances.
The VTube Studio token
Include the VTube Studio token is off by default and marked SENSITIVE.
The token lets a restored backup connect to VTube Studio without asking you to approve the plugin again. Anyone who has that file can control your VTube Studio plugin. Do not post a backup that includes it anywhere public, and do not send one to someone asking for help.
Leave it off for a backup you might share, and turn it on only for a copy you are moving to your own second machine.
Without the token, everything else restores fine; VTube Studio simply asks you to approve Vfinity once more.
Import
Click Import backup and pick the file. Vfinity replaces the current configuration with what is in it.
Older backups still work. The current format is version 6, and Vfinity reads versions 1 through 5 as well, filling in anything a newer feature needs.
Moving to a new computer
On the old machine, export a backup. Include the VTube Studio token if you are the only person who will handle the file.
Install Vfinity on the new machine.
Import the backup.
Check the connections. The TikTok username comes across; VTube Studio needs approving again unless you included the token.
Re-add the OBS browser sources on the new machine. The overlay URLs point at 127.0.0.1, which is the machine OBS is running on, so those live in OBS rather than in the backup.
What a backup does not include
- Uploaded images: your throwing reference image and any overlay images live in the app's local storage.
- Your OBS scene layout.
- Anything on the TikTok or VTube Studio side.
